I’m the Curious Courtesan.
I like making mistakes, love, and art. I’m low-key obsessed with creativity, intimacy, identity, community, and the fine art of living everyday life.
I think this life is equal parts brutal and beautiful ~ I like feeling fully alive ~ and I believe that we can and will end oppression.
A good place to start is recognizing that sex work is work and advocating for decriminalization.
This is where I come to share all of that with you.
The Experiment
Last November, I set out on a year-long experiment: transforming myself from a 41-year-old with stage fright into an aspiring courtesan and performer.
Along the way, I’m creating art, curating beautiful things, and building The Curious Courtesan Shoppe, a home for handcrafted work, vintage treasures, and the playful intersection of beauty, art, intimacy, and magic. I’m also studying contemporary sex work and the courtesans of the past~ an exceptionally intellectual and artistic class of sex worker found across cultures and continents from antiquity onward, now largely erased by colonization and Christian imperialism.
This November, I’ll bring a few pieces of the story to the stage in The Curious Courtesan Showcase, complete with fabulous performances by drag and burlesque artists. 50% of proceeds from the performance will be redistributed to sex worker advocacy and mutual aid.
